Athough VUMMA is branded as a separate entity, this is in actual fact a wing of the foundation as per dictates of the constitution. It has the following three projects under the tutelage of 6 teachers as listed below:
Full-time 1 year music tuition course from levels 1 to 3 per year
NB. The lessons are benchmarked at Grade 1-3 levels of the University of South Africa where students write their final exams!

PREVIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS
....at UNISA: one student, Nokwazi Msimanga passed her 2008 June exams with disctintions
Class of 2008 performed at the 2008 Joy of Jazz Festival.
Students are invited to be backing vocalists and backing bands for professional musicians. One Of the bands, MEDUMO, formed by the students of the Class of 2005 is a constant feature in live shows organised by musicians like Sello Galane and Tlokwe Sehume at the State Theatre. Another group of students from the Class of 2006 have formed a band which is performing in small venues in Tshwane.
One of our students made it to the second round of the popular television music contest IDOLS SOUTH AFRICA show in 2005.
One of our former student, Peter Maluleke, played with a popular Ndebele queen of music Nothembi Mkhwebana in 2006 and also featured in the programme ROOTS on the televison channel, SABC 1.
SUSTAINABILITY OF THE FOUNDATION
A multi-pronged financial model, with the following features below, has been put in place to ensure that VMMDF programme is sustainable
Contributions from students in the form of registration and tuition fees, purchasing of at least one African music instrument from the academy
Contributions from Vusi Mahlasela through specified fund-raising performances and certain percentage from his overseas tours
Contribution from other funders/donor agencies
